What is chip tuning and how does it work?
Each injection engine is provided with a computer-ECU (Electronic Control Unit) which regulates the ignition, the injection and the air – fuel proportion. These injection systems replace the earlier carburetters. In this ECU there is a chip that contains the necessary operation parameters for the engine. We reprogramme this chip in order to give the engine a new operating programme.

Why have a chip installed?
A chip resolutely improves the engine’s performance and power, particularly the response at a lower number of revs (torque) will increase spectacularly. This is very interesting for driving in a mountainous area and / or driving with a trailer and / or with a caravan,.and suchlike.
Generally speaking the fuel consumption will also be lower.

On which types can chip tuning be applied?
Chip tuning is possible for petrol injection engines and for turbo diesel engines (electronically operated).

The advantages of chip tuning
The engine’s life expectancy is not influenced.
The fuel consumption is usually lower. The tuning up can be done much more accurately because all necessary power fields in the Eeprom are adapted, at all numbers of revs and / or accelerations (particularly important for automatic cars).
Chip tuning is invisible from the outside.

The disadvantages of chip tuning.
Not so easy to remove.
More expensive than a power box.
Mostly a support is soldered into the engine computer.

Does chip tuning damage the engine?
If installed by a professional, chip tuning does certainly not damage your engine. Incompetent installation however can have a harmful effect.

Are there any consequences for the factory guarantee?
For most brands the factory guarantee is simply retained, because a well installed chip tuning does no harm whatsoever to the engine. Some brands even sell a chip tuning themselves.

How long will I have to do without my car?
After we have made an appointment, we will need your car for one day. Exceptionally you can also wait for it (waiting period approximately 3 hours)

What is the difference between chip tuning and a power box?
A power box is a small box that is connected to the wiring. For a chip tuning, the Eeprom (chip) in the engine computer is changed and reprogrammed.

What are the advantages of a power box?
A power box can easily be installed and removed by almost anybody. It is cheaper than chip tuning.

What are the disadvantages of a power box?
A power box lies to the engine computer. It does sometimes happen that one cannot find the exact adjustment (too much smoke and / or CO). The results are a little less satisfactory than for chip tuning.
