What is Alterpower?Alterpower will release more power from your engine resulting in increased acceleration and better response. The device easily fits any non-turbo petrol engine, and will release between 2 and 6 BHP, depending on the loading on the alternator. (Older cars with less electrical items give around 2BHP, newer cars up to 6 BHP).The alternator works as an electric motor in reverse, the more current is drawn, the more power is sucked from the engine. If the load is diconnected, the alternator draws negiligible power. Alterpower is a brand new device that fits in line with your alternator and monitors battery voltage and throttle angle, and then decides when the alternator is really needed, and when it is not. |

Technical descriptionThe Alterpower connects between the alternator and the battery. The Alterpower fits in line with the heavy duty cable bolted to the alternator. The Alterpower is capable of switching an instantaneous current of up to 1000Amps, and a continuous current of 100Amps, more than enough for the majority of cars. The method for detecting full throttle is a pressure sensor that monitors the vacuum in the inlet plenum and switches the Alterpower on 75% throttle openings. At the moment a Turbo Version is not available. |

SafetyThe Alternator is not required all the time, an average condition battery can power a running car for at least 1/2 hour without any additional charging.Should the battery voltage ever drop below what is acceptable for modern engines, the sophisticated electronics within the Alterpower will automatically switch the alternator back in to top up the battery. |
