Since 1984 Ford have fitted
their EEC IV computer to everything from the Fiesta 1.4 up to the Granada 2.9.
With the introduction of the Scorpio in 1995, came the EEC IV's successor - the
re-engineered EEC V.
Together, Fords EEC IV and EEC V are probably the most advanced engine
management systems available on production cars to date. They are unlike other
systems in that they have a custom built EPROM at the heart of their control.
This uniqueness caused chip tuners to reckon them to be "uncrackable".
So, at Superchips, we spent almost a year developing a solution that would
enable us to utilise the computers diagnostic port on which to mount our re-programmed
power module. Simply, the Superchips module just plugs in, allowing it to
be connected in a matter of minutes!

The module adjusts the fuelling and timing maps to improve drivability and allows the on-and-off throttle driving style most performance minded drivers prefer. Power increases on full throttle can be seen to be approx. 5% for the EEC IV and 8% for the EEC V, but the changes to engine response (and ironing out of flatspots) are quite dramatic.
